In the beginning…
The mission of Kru Oasis is to curate creative spaces for women and girls that inspire them to cultivate collective wellness.
I started Kru Oasis as a communal safe haven for every woman and girl who is willing to fight for total wellness. We started with a weekly circle of high school students in South Africa in 2013, and have operated in various living rooms from California to Maryland :-).
Each workshop is interactive and incorporates creative elements to help participants practice and remember takeaways. The name has changed, and the mission has remained the same. I believe that If we do not heal as a community, we maintain unhealthy and destructive practices. In a safe collective we find solidarity, accountability, elimination of shame, and recognition of the universality of our concerns. In a safe collective, we find our voice and reclaim our power.
Kru Oasis Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that facilitates art therapy-based programs to empower women and girls to invest in multifaceted self-care and mental wellness.
